Hello, I'm Emma
I graduated from the University of Northampton with a first-class degree in Podiatry and have since worked within the NHS treating various conditions and specialising within diabetes care, high risk wounds, nail surgery and musculoskeletal podiatry. Given my experience caring for patients both within NHS and the private sector, my specialist interest relates to management of ingrowing nails from conservative care to surgical management.
Having suffered with ingrown toenails myself, I understand first hand the concern that this pathology causes.
I believe that the ability to effectively alleviate pain and increase mobility is one of the most important and rewarding aspects of my job.
What made you want to be a podiatrist?
A few things really. When I was a child, I required podiatric treatment and as I grew up my Mum also required assistance with her feet and ended up having bunion surgery. I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people and continue into a medical profession.
What strengths or skill sets do you have as a podiatrist?
My skills have been founded and strengthened by my experiences both from working as a podiatrist but also my previous role within paediatric phlebotomy. Whilst my specialism in podiatry involving high risk wound care, diabetes care and vascular concerns was founded from my time within NHS, I also offer specialist skill in my ability to care for ingrown nails, musculoskeletal concerns, general foot care and skin pathologies. As a podiatrist I am here to help you and your feet, whichever concern that may be!
What do you enjoy outside of life as a podiatrist?
I love spending time with my friends and family. I enjoy travelling abroad and long walks with my 2 pups :)
